The 19th century Hotel Palou is a beautiful and elegant building located in the popular town of Sant Pere de Ribes just outside of Sitges.
Hotel Palou is a wonderful example of a 'Villa Cuadra', a typical house built by rich 19th century South American plantation owners on their return to their home country, and has recently been lovingly restored and converted into a stylish boutique hotel.
Located only five minutes drive from the beautiful beaches of Sitges, the house was built in 1874 by Dr. Cristófol Cuadras, an “American”, as the returning colonialists from Latin America were generally known, after they had made their fortunes. These returning emigrants were known for displaying their wealth, typically by building oppulent villas and decorating them with artefacts acquired in the colonies.
During the restoration the classic features of the building such as the stucco work on the ceilings, the wrought-iron work on the windows and balconies, and the mosaic floor tiles were restored as closely as possible to the original.
The singularity of the building´s architecture and the image of the “Americans” or ”Indians” has been a source of inspiration for the hotel. Each of the rooms, indvidual in style, has been decorated according to the styles of the epoch and together with the public rooms, balconies, garden and swimming pool evoke the charm and romantic ambiance of former times.
The hotel features 10 beautifully furnished bedrooms all with ensuite facilities.
The hotel is available for complete hire or individual rooms depending on the dates required.
